Objective

University of Jammu is indeed one of India's most respected and oldest universities. The varsity wanted to create a web presence that shall serve to the needs of aspiring students wanting to gain admission in the university and establish itself as a future focused and progressive ub of education across the globe so as to attract global tie ups, student exchange programs and gain international recognition.

A well of thought of design structure was put in place for the university website that allowed a streamlined flow of information to the aspiring students while talking of the stature of university both at national and international level. Due importance was given to the infrastructure facilities at the university with the help of right visuals and supporting content.

Information was disseminated on each course, its curriculum, future prospects, faculty, admissions process, eligibility criteria and the infrastructure support. Students were made to feel the campus environment virtually by telling them each and everything about the university starting from its history to milestones, departments to faculty and hostels to extra curricular activities. Downloads of various admissions forms was also provided on the website itself.

Not forgetting the existing students and alumni of the university separate section announcing results for various courses and admissions tests along with a dedicated alumni zone for old timers was created on the website so as to build a community and establish a network between the students an the alumni.

The website succeeds in its aim of providing the user with a window to the academic heart of the university.

Performance Update

The Website of the University of Jammu www.jammuuniversity.in is the proud winner of the best website Award among all of the Commonwealth Universities for the year 2008.

In a citation, the Association of the Commonwealth Universities jury has mentioned "the identity of the University is clearly conveyed to the target audiences with the use of the visual imagery, news snippets and the statements of the achievements.

It is worth to mention that in all, 400 commonwealth universities of the 37 countries had sent their nominations for this category and the Jury awarded the prize to the JU Website due to the content management, designing and easy navigability.
