Objective

PHFI with support from MoH wanted to create a portal for promoting healthy living amongst the masses of India while providing information of various lifestyle related disorders and chronic diseases along with awareness on prevention.

Solution Suggested

The challenge here was to create design and content in such a way that it appeals to both the urban and semi urban population of the country. Since both the audience come from different walks of life we created a bilingual website that had visuals and content displayed in a manner that each of these audience could relate to in a personalized manner.

To accomplish the objective we also exclusively addressed women and school children in the portal as these strata of the society would have maximum positive impact one being looked at as the 'mother of all' and the other being the future of our country.

A lot of interactive and dynamic features such as health news, stay healthy tips, a healthy eating guide, health calculators and discussion boards etc. so that people keep on revisiting the website to make it a success. Another feature that was thought of was to give in-depth information on various most common diseases of today including their indications, causes, symptoms, prevention and medication. These included simplest of the disorders like back pain to chronic disease like lung cancer, diabetes and heart related problems.

To promote the concept of healthy living and also create a brand recall of the site attractive wallpapers and screensavers were given on the site for downloads. The entire solution was then powered with a custom developed content management solution so that changes to the site could be made in no matter of time. All WebPages were optimized for size and search engine friendliness and the site was then promoted in various national and international search engines of repute.

Hon'ble Health Minister Dr. A Ramadoss dedicated the site in its final shape to the nation in April 2007 and it got a tremendous response in terms of traffic from the desired audience.

Outcomes

The has site managed to a great visibility on the net in terms of searcability through generic key phrases like 'healthy lifestyle guide', 'prevent (disease name) india' etc. The visits to the site range between 25,000 to 35,000 each month consistently for last 18 months. The site has been talked off in major international news and health portals already.

The site recently was adjudged Winner of the PC World Web Awards 2008, for excellence in overall performance in the healthcare category in the month of July 2008.

Performance Update

The traffic to the site so far is purely through SEO exercise. It has been witnessing a great response and we are currently in process of revamping and adding on a lot more interactivity in the same. The waters have been tested and the site shall now go ahead with a new look, much more content and an aggressive online media exposure in early 2009.
